No-code movement has created an ecosystem of citizen developers, content creators, startups and domain experts which are likely to become larger and more organized enterprises over the next few years. Muzammil Patel, Global Head (Strategy and Corporate Finance) at Acies in an interview with Bizz Buzz, says, “No-code has helped democratize technology especially for startups as the need for a CTO co-founder and early-stage capital is significantly reduced”

What is the status of India as a market for no-code players? What were your thoughts on the epidemic and its aftermath?

India is the perfect market for no-code where the desire for innovation at rapid speed along with a large talent pool of business analysts creates a perfect ecosystem. India has been at the cutting edge of digital innovation and the need to step up both in terms of speed of rollout and need for innovation at scale makes no-code a central theme for digitalization. The large talent pool for IT services professionals and the multitude of use cases across industries is likely to drive the no-code ecosystem for the next decade. The epidemic led to significant investments in IT systems to plug gaps in human dependency and continuity risks. A lot of these investments happened at the infrastructure level and initial investments in digital applications were slow. Post the pandemic, with the IT infrastructure more robust that before, most digital investments are being driven towards customer servicing and improving applications.

The importance of the no-code and the businesses connected to it. Describe your target numbers for the brands connected to no-code/low-code as well.

No-code is likely to become the only way to build applications in the future. The transition from frameworks to no-code platforms has helped businesses roll-out their digital infrastructure faster and focus on business rather than IT. No-code has created an ecosystem of citizen developers, content creators, startups and domain experts which are likely to become larger and more organized enterprises over the next few years. No-code is likely to create a new digital economy of contributors, creative talent and entrepreneurs that will enable rapid digitalization across industries.

How is no-code essential to the startup ecosystem?

The new wave of startups focused on converting domain knowledge to enterprise will rely entirely on no-code platforms. So far, the focus of startups has been to use no-code platforms for building their minimum viable product or MVP. The focus is shifting to building enterprise grade solutions on no-code platforms in a long-term sustainable manner. No-code has helped democratize technology especially for startups as the need for a CTO co-founder and early-stage capital is significantly reduced. The entire focus shifts to the business and commercial viability.

How are no-code platforms assisting the BFSI sector?

The BFSI sector has been the largest beneficiary of the no-code wave. As the need for customer and employee engagement has increased, the BFSI sector has been able to use no-code platforms to rapidly roll-out new applications. The focus on BFSI has now shifted to improving data management and reducing data latency across systems and use cases.

No-code is now at the forefront of re-imagining the data warehouse and how data is used with zero latency across the institution and across the banking ecosystem.

What are your objectives for the forthcoming fiscal year?

Our objectives are two-fold: (i) democratizing no-code beyond the enterprise market by making it available to a large base on startups, entrepreneurs and creators (ii) make no-code simpler for everyone by moving from on-screen symbol-based engagement to natural language-based engagement.

Our goal is to make no-code platforms available, simple and affordable for everyone to help with rapid digitalization.
